Albany State University is proud to announce the addition of Demetri Wilson to the Golden Rams staff as the Coordinator of Football Operations, a position made possible through the NCAA Division II Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant.
“We are excited to welcome Demetri Wilson as our new Coordinator of Football Operations,” said Dr. Kristene Kelly, Director of Athletics. “We are grateful to the NCAA for this opportunity, and we believe Demetri’s expertise and enthusiasm will be instrumental in enhancing our program.”

Wilson brings a wealth of experience to Albany State. Last season, he served as the Director of Recruiting Operations for the Fresno State Football program, where he was involved in operations, recruiting, academic monitoring, player development, and scouting. He also has valuable experience from his time at West Virginia University, the University of Florida, and Eastern Illinois University.
“I am truly humbled and grateful to be joining the Albany State family as the Coordinator of Football Operations,” says Wilson. “I am honored to be a part of an institution that has a rich history of producing talented student-athletes and dedicated coaches. I am excited to bring my skills and experience to the table to support the football program and help our student-athletes achieve their goals on and off the field.”

Wilson’s career began at Northwestern Oklahoma State, where he served as an assistant coach for the defensive line from 2017 to 2018. He then transitioned to the role of Director of Player Personnel, Player Development, and On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator from 2019 to 2020. In 2018, he was honored as the NWOSU Ranger Recruiter of the Year. His responsibilities included managing the recruitment of offensive and defensive players and overseeing player services such as enrollment, financial aid, housing, transportation, off-campus living, and academic advising.

A native of Homestead, FL, Wilson earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2018 and a master’s degree in education and administration in 2020 from Northwestern Oklahoma State. During his time with the Rangers, he played on the offensive and defensive lines from 2012 to 2017.

“We are excited to have Demetri join us in the operations capacity,” said Head Coach Quinn Gray. “It gives us a chance to focus more on football itself rather than logistical tasks. We are confident that his addition will help us #MoveTheNeedle in the future of Golden Rams football.”

The grant funds a 10-month position and includes resources for attending an NCAA Convention and additional professional development opportunities. These initiatives aim to help recipients network, learn, and grow in their shared mission to provide the best student-athlete experience on their respective campuses.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Kelly and Coach Quinn for believing in my skill set and giving me this opportunity,” Wilson said. “I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure that our football program is a source of pride for the university and the Golden Rams Community. I look forward to collaborating with our talented coaching staff, athletic department staff, and student-athletes. Thank you again for this opportunity. I am eager to get started and make a positive impact.”
